G. Love & Special Sauce with Redeye Empire
Orpheum Theater
Doors 7:30/Show 8:30
$20
Combining blues and hip-hop into what he termed "ragmop," G. Love rose from the streets of Philadelphia into the American music scene in 1994. At the beginning of his career, he fused his vocal and guitar talents with his band Special Sauce--acoustic bass player Jimmy "Jazz" Prescott and drummer Jeffrey Clemens. As G. Love and Special Sauce, they released such popular singles as "Cold Beverage" and "Baby's Got Sauce." Love went on to work with other bands, as well as playing and recording with Special Sauce. His good looks, smooth vocal delivery, and unfailing dedication to touring provided a steady climb to notoriety. Kevin Klein described Love's persona in Weekly Alibi as "the Elvis Presley of hip hop: part John Lee Hooker and part Christian Slater."

Badfish, a Tribute to Sublime
Orpheum Theater
Doors 7/Show 8
$15-$17
The phenomenon known as Sublime, arguably the most energetic, original and uniquely eclectic band to emerge from any scene, anywhere, ended with the untimely death of lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Brad Nowell in May of 1996. But encompassing the sense of place and purpose long associated with Sublime’s music, Badfish, a Tribute to Sublime continues to channel the spirit of Sublime with a fury not felt for some time. What separates Badfish from other tribute bands is that they have replicated Sublime’s essence, developing a scene and dedicated following most commonly reserved for label-driven, mainstream acts. Badfish make their mark on the audience by playing with the spirit of Sublime. They perform not as Sublime would have, or did, but as Badfish does.

Les Claypool with Beats Antique
Orpheum Theater
Doors 7/Show 8
$29-$32
The most original rock bassist to come along in the '90s was unquestionably Primus' Les Claypool. With his oddball sense of humor and funky playing, Claypool took his varied musical influences and created an invigorating and completely inventive style. Primus scored a surprise Top Ten hit with 1993's Pork Soda (and subsequent headlining spot on that year's Lollapalooza festival tour), solidifying the band's status as quirk rock's undisputed kings, as well as the theme song to TV's South Park.
We are thrilled to bring the man who may very well be the best bass player on the planet to Flagstaff for the first time ever! |

Suzy Bogguss
Orpheum Theater
Doors 7/Show 8
$22-$32
She reached the Top 15 in 1989 with "Cross My Broken Heart" and again in 1991 with a duet with Lee Greenwood, "Hopelessly Yours." However, the 1991 album Aces spawned three Top 10 hits -- "Outbound Plane," "Aces" and "Letting Go." Those successes earned her the Horizon Award for most promising artist at the 1992 CMA awards.
In 1993, Bogguss climbed to No. 2 with John Hiatt's "Drive South," followed by the Top 5 hits "Just Like the Weather" and "Hey Cinderella." She and her friend Chet Atkins released the album Simpatico in 1994, and she and husband Doug Crider welcomed a son in 1995.
After parting with Capitol Records, Bogguss resurfaced with one album on the Platinum label in 1999. After an extensive tour with John Berry and Billy Dean, she released the bright Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in 2001, as well as Swing! in 2003. |

Stockholm Syndrome
Orpheum Theater
Doors 7pm/Show 8pm
$20-$22
Stockholm Syndrome is made up of an all-star cast. When Widespread Panic bass player Dave Schools and acclaimed singer/songwriter Jerry Joseph of the Jackmormons decided to collaborate, each initially thought the side project would be a cool, if temporary, change of pace. With one studio album released, a new studio album set for release in early 2010 and multiple tours behind them, Stockholm Syndrome has transcended being just a side project. Stockholm Syndrome is a band. They put together their "Dream Team" including Eric McFadden (a San Francisco-based guitarist who has worked with Keb Mo', Les Claypool and George Clinton's P-Funk All Stars), Danny Louis (an Upstate NY based keyboard virtuoso widely known for his role in Gov't Mule and Cheap Trick) and drummer Wally Ingram (an L.A.-based drummer who has worked with Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow, Tracy Chapman and David Lindley). The result is a powerhouse hard-rock extravaganza.
